Videos of malnourished Israeli prisoners captured by their captors in Gaza have been denounced by Western officials, and the Red Cross is demanding access to all those still held captive.
They must be released “unconditionally,” according to UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who added that “images of hostages being paraded for propaganda are sickening.”
These calls follow the broadcast of video of a slender and weeping Rom Braslavski by Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Thursday and of an emaciated Evyatar David by Hamas on Saturday.
Hamas was accused by Israeli leaders of starving hostages.
In the midst of Gaza’s hunger crisis, Hamas’ armed wing denied that it purposefully starves detainees, claiming that hostages eat what its soldiers and people eat.
