For a limited time, from September 29 to June 2026, South Korea will grant visa-free entrance to Chinese tourist groups in an effort to increase international travel in advance of an Asia-Pacific summit, the administration announced on Wednesday.
Following China’s decision last November to grant South Koreans and foreign tourists from other nations a visa exemption, the visa-free offer was first made public in March.
It also coincides with hopes that the new South Korean government, led by liberal President Lee Jae Myung, will strengthen connections between the two nations.
In light of a rebound in international travel, the tourism ministry claimed that the measure’s introduction ahead of a Chinese vacation period in early October will assist strengthen the home economy.
