Following rumors that he had been “taken by armed men” from his Lahore home, police confirmed early Friday that Shahrez Khan, the nephew of imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan and the son of his sister Aleema Khan, had been arrested on Thursday.
In a statement, DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza stated that Shahrez would be brought before a court today and was wanted in relation to the May 9 cases.
DIG Raza went on to say, “Those who engage in anti-state activities do not deserve any leniency.”
The PTI spokesperson claimed earlier in the day that Shahrez had been “abducted” a day after he and his spouse were “illegally offloaded” from an airport flight in Lahore.
Shahrez was “tortured before his two children” by the armed men, he added.
