KARACHI: The rain system that has pounded Karachi for the last three days is predicted to move out today, with only light rains forecast in the morning, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday.
However, a Met Office spokeswoman said that later this month, more rain is expected to fall in other regions of Sindh.
The spokesperson stated that the current monsoon system should end tonight. “A new monsoon system will arrive in Sindh on August 27, bringing rain to Karachi and other parts of the province until August 30,” the official said.
The rains started in Karachi on Tuesday, resulting in extensive flooding in certain areas of Pakistan’s largest city and financial center as rainfall hit levels not seen in years.
