Two persons were killed and one injured in the tragedy. According to state media, three remain missing.

People living nearby have been evacuated and the ship’s skipper has been placed under arrest, local media said, citing district authorities.
Reportedly, the ship’s owner business stated that it is assisting with the investigation.
A resident was cited in one story as indicating that the neighborhood’s internet and water supplies had been turned off.
According to CCTV, provincial authorities determined in October 2021 that the bridge needed to be strengthened. As part of their plan, they built “collision avoidance facilities” at four of the bridge’s piers.
The study states that there have been three delays in the completion date of these works, with the most recent one being to August of this year.
Located on the Pearl River delta, Guangzhou is one of the busiest seaports in China’s mainland.
Since it opened in 2004, the port in Nansha, the district where the event occurred, has seen annual growth in cargo volumes, making it the fastest-growing port in southern China.
