“Joe ought to accept all of the criticism that he is “too old to be president,” rather than trying to counter it. Put an end to the ‘I’m smarter than ever.’ That is not something that anyone believes. Embrace your age rather than trying to ignore it. “Loan in, like you’re eating soup,” joked Maher. “And just acknowledge it! Declare, “Yeah, I walk like a toddler with a full diaper and I’m bad with names, but I believe in democracy.”
Using examples from their presidential campaigns, such as John Kerry’s duck hunting and Hillary Clinton carrying chili sauce in her purse, the HBO anchor claimed that Democratic candidates have become “defensive” about who they really are.
