Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, said on Wednesday that Steve Smith, a batsman, will replace Josh Inglis in the second Test match against the West Indies in Grenada.
Smith has fully healed from a dislocated finger, according to Cummins, and will start the game at number four on Thursday.
Inglis, who scored five and twelve runs in the lone alteration after Australia’s 159-run victory in the Barbados series opener, is left out.
According to Cricket Australia, Smith will need to wear a splint for five weeks after dislocating his right little finger during last month’s World Test Championship final.
Nevertheless, the veteran survived a 30-minute batting session and a few slip-catching drills.
“He’s ready to go, the finger held up well,” Cummins informed reporters.
