Sales management firm Sotheby’s said it is unloading the work with a gauge of $400,000 to $600,000 (£320,420 to £480,630) – the “most elevated pre-deal gauge at any point put on a thing of any Harry Potter-related work”.
The outline, by English creator and artist Thomas Taylor, highlighted on the fronts of the presentation version of the novel in 1997.
The Harry Potter book was his most memorable expert commission at 23 years old. He was approached to represent the person by Barry Cunningham at Bloomsbury distributing house.
Taylor was among quick to peruse the original copy and it took him two days to finish the portrayal of the growing wizard – with his dull hair, round glasses, and lightning bolt scar, en route to Hogwarts on board the train.
