Ahead of the 15th season of the Big Bash League (BBL), former captain of Pakistan Babar Azam has signed a historic contract with the Sydney Sixers, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league’s history.
The Sixers used the BBL clause that permits teams to pre-sign one foreign player prior to the official draft to confirm Azam’s deal on Friday. Sources close to the situation claim that Babar’s contract is worth more than the base price for the Platinum category, which is estimated to be around PKR 7.75 crore. His final compensation is said to be close to PKR 10 crore.
This is regarded as one of the most prominent purchases in the history of the BBL and Babar Azam’s maiden outing in Australia’s top T20 league.
