A high-level committee was established by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday with the goal of accelerating the nation’s digitization and fostering a cashless economy.
The prime minister stated that one of the government’s main reform priorities was the digitization of the economy while presiding over a meeting in Islamabad. The group will examine progress and associated activities during its weekly meetings.
In order to promote digital money transfers and payments, he also directed the appropriate authorities to create and carry out policy initiatives.
“The government has proposed a number of initiatives in the federal budget 2025-26 for the promotion of a cashless economy,” PM Shehbaz stated, adding that expanding digital transaction systems for financial transfers and shopping as well as discouraging the informal economy are part of the government’s larger strategy.
