Three other Americans who are presently being held in Turks and Caicos may follow suit after a hearing on Friday for one American who was arrested after ammunition was discovered in his suitcase while he was returning home from a family vacation.
Bryan Hagerich, 39, a father of two from Pennsylvania and a former professional baseball player, appeared in court in Turks and Caicos on Friday. The judge ordered him to stay on the islands for an additional three weeks until his sentencing, during which he will find out whether he has to serve the mandatory 12-year sentence for carrying ammunition in his bag at the airport or if his case can be decided.
