ARTIFICIAL intelligence has the potential to revolutionise our response to the concerns of climate change and climatic disasters. The convergence of AI and climate action holds promise not only for enhancing our ability to adapt to a changing environment but also for developing sustainable solutions that may help mitigate the factors behind climate change.

Anthropogenic activities are the primary cause of climate change, which results in greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Severe dangers associated with climate change include rising sea levels, ecological disruption, species extinction, and changed ocean currents. Regular weather occurrences like hurricanes, droughts, floods, and wildfires endanger human health and reduce biodiversity. Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving innovation that has the potential to change how we address climate-related concerns, from disaster prediction and response to precision agriculture and renewable energy optimization.

There was a global upsurge in disasters caused by climate change in 2023. Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Perry, Florida in 2023 after making landfall in the Caribbean and strengthening to a Category 3 storm.
