Amidst reports that J.J. Redick was their aim, the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly closing in on an offer to hire UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley as their new head coach.
According to news on Thursday, the Lakers and Hurley intend to “elevate discussions” over the potential of the two-time national champion managing Los Angeles in the coming days. Hurley is expected to receive a “massive, long-term contract” offer from the organization.
Hurley, 51, supposedly wanted to stay in Storrs, Connecticut, to try to win a three-peat, but he left the door open to pursue his dream of becoming an NBA head coach.
In April, the CT Insider revealed that a second contract was under consideration, and he inked a six-year, $32.1 million deal last July.
J.J. Redick was reportedly being considered by the Lakers to be their next head coach. The squad was “zeroing in” on the former Duke standout to take the helm, according to a Tuesday report from The Athletic.
Together with LeBron James of the Lakers, Redick conducts a podcast.
“SO F—ING MAD,” Leon James says he’s no longer playing with Kyrie Irving, calling him the “most gifted player” of all time.
Redick stated on “Golic & Golic” on Wednesday that he would deal with the Lakers problem following the conclusion of the postseason. As of yet, nothing is official.
