Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Iqbal Afridi’s “misogynistic” remarks about a woman’s attire were denounced and criticised by Sindh Government spokesperson Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. They demanded an apology from Afridi.
MNA Afridi voiced a concern on a woman’s attire during the meeting of the Standing Committee on Power of the National Assembly. Other participants and members of the group who were present at the meeting then gave him criticism.
Senator Rehman responded to Afridi by telling him to accept responsibility for his actions. This behavior crosses the line into harassment and is abhorrent. The PTI ought to extend an apology to its MNA.”
She said, “No one has the right to comment over a woman’s attire,” speaking directly to Afridi.Don’t create a patriarchal culture. Who made you an outfit policeman?
Furthermore, the minister of communication denounced the PTI lawmaker’s action, stating that harassing women is unacceptable under any circumstances. The Tehreek-e-Insaf has evolved into an unjust movement for women called Tehreek-e-na-insaf.
