Given the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) today (Monday), the Sindh government declared on Sunday that cellular services would be suspended in all major cities within the province, including Karachi.
In an effort to preserve law and order throughout the province, the Sindh Home Minister, Ziaul Hasan Lanjar, said that mobile phone services would be suspended today in many major towns, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Khairpur.
According to the home minister, there will be constant surveillance of the mourning processions by aerial means, and security forces will stay on high alert due to the current state of law and order.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) also released a statement in which it was said that phone and data services in Karachi .
