The unfounded accusations made by Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against senior journalist and anchor Gharida Farooqi were sharply denounced on Saturday by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), who also demanded that Gharida Farooqi provide an unreserved apology.
PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari released a statement in which they claimed that the chief minister appeared to be conducting an ongoing campaign of defamation against the nation’s media professionals.
“Without providing any proof, Gandapur charged Gharida Farooqi of accepting a bribe. Butt and Ansari remarked, “These accusations amount to discrediting the reputation of the anchorperson who has only carried out her duties by asking tough questions of politicians.
The PTI must put an end to this evil campaign, they said, adding, “The PTI carried out character assassination of many people.”
