The 16th day of the Indo-Pakistan War in 1965 saw significant advancements on several fronts for Pakistan’s armed forces. According to reports, the Indian Army suffered 6,889 casualties, with considerable losses in tanks and armored vehicles.
Pakistan’s military, especially the Air Force, repulsed Indian attacks and destroyed 36 enemy tanks in the Sialkot and Jammu regions. Indian soldiers were forced to retreat 12 miles from Wagah, Attari, and Khemkaran by Pakistani forces, who also took control of a 6-mile section of Indian territory.
With complete control of the Rajouri region, the Pakistan Army severely damaged the enemy. In the meantime, Indian naval maneuvers were essentially stopped as the Pakistan Navy acquired total supremacy over the Arabian Sea.
Over the Beas River, two Indian Hunter aircraft were shot down by Pakistan Air Force Sabre planes during aerial battle.
