In a phone conversation with his Turkish colleague on Tuesday, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China has been in communication with Iran, Israel, and other pertinent parties and is eager for a “real ceasefire” to be achieved.
According to a statement from his ministry, Wang stated that all sides should return to the route of a political resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue and resume negotiation on an equal basis.
He went on to say that the core of Middle East problems remains the Palestinian issue.
Turkey praised reports earlier today that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement, calling on all parties to completely abide by the truce and highlighting the pressing need for a comprehensive Middle East peace.
