The Foreign Office (FO) vehemently denounced on Tuesday the conduct of Mohibullah Shakir, the Acting Consul General of Afghanistan, who disregarded customary diplomatic decorum at a Peshawar event.
The incident happened at the Rahmatul Alameen (PBUH) Conference, which was invited by Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when Mohibullah Shakir refused to stand during the playing of Pakistan’s national song.
FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch called Shakir’s conduct “reprehensible and condemnable” and stated that “insulting the national anthem of the host country is against diplomatic principles.”
The FO has protested vehemently to the Afghan government in Islamabad and Kabul.
