The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared 26 former members of the national and provincial assemblies ineligible to contest the elections for not submitting their returns including 11 former members of the National Assembly, 7 members of the Sindh Assembly, and 8 members of Balochistan Assembly.
These members will not be permitted to take part in any elections until the 2023–22 declaration is submitted, according to the ECP.
Khurram Dastgir, Mohsin Ranjha, Muhammad Ali, Kamaluddin, Arsalan Taj, Syed Imran Ali Shah, Yar Muhammad Rand, and other former members were among the parliamentarians suspended.
“Former members will be eligible to run for office after submitting the declarations of 2023–22,” the ECP stated.
