River levels are returning to normal, according to PDMA Punjab DG Irfan Ali Kathia, but extensive relief and restoration work is still ongoing.
River levels return to normal.
Kathia told the reporters during a briefing on Friday that all of the major storm systems had passed and that no heavy rains were anticipated until the following week. From Jassar to Sindhnai and from Marala to Panjnad, he noted, there was no risk of significant floods.
Kathia observed that although the Sutlej River’s flow was still marginally higher than that of other rivers, it had been steadily declining during the previous 48 hours.
