Iran’s top security council has stated that the reimposition of UN sanctions by Britain, France, and Germany will “effectively suspend” Iran’s collaboration with the UN nuclear inspectors.
The Supreme National Security Council said in a televised statement that “the actions of European countries will effectively suspend the path of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), despite the foreign ministry’s cooperation with the agency and the presentation of plans to resolve the issue.”
The announcement follows the Security Council’s vote on Friday to reinstate frozen UN sanctions after European nations accused Iran of non-compliance and invoked the “snapback” mechanism in a ten-year-old nuclear pact.
The sanctions were suspended in exchange for the vote.
