LONDON: Since Imran Khan turned in his papers, the chancellorship at Oxford institution has been overshadowed by the complex dynamics of Pakistani politics for the first time, and the institution probably underestimated the negative reaction his candidacy would cause, according to a Monday story in The Times.
There is a great deal of concern in Pakistan about the election, especially in light of Khan’s imprisonment, with many of his supporters thinking that a victory would significantly increase the likelihood of him being released from prison. The contest is so fierce that a legal opinion has been sought regarding whether or not the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) meets the merits, the paper said.
