In a step that suggests a modest lessening of bilateral tensions, India’s foreign ministry announced Thursday that it will resume direct flights between approved locations this month after a more than five-year halt.
Despite China being India’s largest bilateral trading partner, direct flights between the two countries have not existed since 2020.
IndiGo INGL.NS, the biggest airline in India, said that it will start operating nonstop daily flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou on October 26. Additionally, it intends to create a road that will link the Chinese metropolis and New Delhi.
