The SC Practice and Procedure Committee was reorganized on Saturday by newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, who reinstated Justice Munib Akhtar to the three-member crucial body that was created to resolve cases and form benches.

This comes only hours after Justice Afridi, who replaced Justice Qazi Faez Isa as the country’s top judge, was sworn in as the country’s 30th chief justice earlier today.

A notification states that the chief justice will preside over the special bench established by the judges committee in accordance with the SC (Practice and Procedure Act), 2023. He also appointed Justice Akhtar and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, two senior puisne judges, to the judges’ committee.

President Asif Ali Zardari authorized the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Ordinance 2024 on September 20.
