Despite a number of government-implemented mitigation measures, residents of Punjab still had to contend with hazardous smog on Monday as air pollution levels increase and temperatures drop.
While Multan had the worst air quality in the nation, hovering above the “hazardous” category and posing health hazards to residents after prolonged exposure, Lahore once again topped the list of the most polluted large cities in the globe.
The smog-filled air that has swallowed Punjab’s cities has now drifted into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, engulfing Peshawar, the province capital, and the surrounding areas.
Punjab is choked by persistent haze, and the air quality in KPs Peshawar deteriorates.
On the Swiss group’s real-time list of the cities with the worst air quality, Lahore’s score was 565.
