LAHORE: The provincial administration of Punjab has banned all outdoor activities until November 17 in the districts of Multan, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, which are the most afflicted after Lahore due to the province’s ongoing battle with heavy smog.
According to an official announcement released by the Punjab government’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “the average AQI of these districts has crossed the critical limit of 500 which is alarmingly hazardous for human health and wellbeing.”
According to the notification, despite the government’s unrelenting attempts to reduce the increasing levels of air pollution, the number of patients suffering from respiratory and lung conditions, allergies, eye and throat irritation, and pink eye illness has increased at an unprecedented rate in smog-affected areas.
According to the Punjab Environmental Protection Act of 1997, Section 6(1)(t), the restrictions are being implemented.
