Fetterman calls out Ocasio-Cortez
Sen. John Fetterman appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” Thursday and publicly criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over her statements at the Munich Security Conference. John Fetterman criticizes AOC for being “clueless” on Israel and accused her of making unfair statements about genocide while in Germany.
“Her views are troubling because they are anti-Israel,” Fetterman said. “To sit in Germany and accuse Israel of genocide is ignorant.” Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Context of AOC’s remarks
Ocasio-Cortez argued that U.S. aid to Israel contributed to civilian deaths in Gaza and cited the Leahy Laws, which block funding to foreign security units implicated in gross human rights violations. Fetterman emphasized that he disagrees with this assessment, calling it a serious problem within a part of the Democratic Party.
John Fetterman criticizes AOC’s comments as part of a worrying trend among some party members, but he stressed the importance of dialogue and unity.
Fetterman urges Democratic Party unity
Despite his criticism, Fetterman encouraged a “big tent” Democratic Party that allows members to hold different views. “We can disagree on some issues but still work together,” he said.
When asked about Gov. Gavin Newsom, Fetterman said he respects him personally even though they differ on certain policies. “We are all Democrats, and that’s why the party must remain inclusive,” he added.
Broader implications
Fetterman warned that comments like Ocasio-Cortez’s reflect deeper divisions in the Democratic Party but argued for inclusion rather than exclusion. He repeated that while he strongly opposes her position on Israel, the party should stay united.
