Khawaja Asif, the minister of defense, harshly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday, saying the party was looking for an army commander who would ensure its political supremacy.
Asif, a senior politician of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated, “An army chief who defends PTI’s rule becomes its ‘father (master),’ but when an army chief protects Pakistan’s interests and embodies patriotism, PTI stages protests against him in the United States.”
The federal minister criticized PTI for putting political and personal interests ahead of national integrity in a post on X.
In addition to trying to exert pressure on organizations like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) against Paistan, he accused the party of abusing its international platforms.
“These people actively work against Pakistan’s interests abroad while remaining silent on the [Middle East] crisis,” he remarked.
