Lahore, the capital of Punjab, lost one place on the list of the world’s most polluted cities in terms of air quality one day after taking the top spot, as the city remains plagued due to heavy smog.
For nearly two months, the megacity has consistently been ranked among the most polluted places in the world, making it a mainstay on global pollution statistics.
Persistent smog still permeates the city, causing inhabitants to deal with dangerous air conditions and health issues, even if the air quality index (AQI) has fluctuated recently and even showed significant improvements from the historic increase earlier this month.
According to the Swiss organization IQAir’s list, the AQI rating in Lahore was 222 at 8:30 am today, with a 29.4-fold increase in PM2.5 pollution.
