LONDON: American Tanweer Ahmed, a Pakistani business magnate, made headlines this week after it was disclosed by Geo News that he met in secret with former premier Imran Khan several times in Adiala Jail in October of last year in an attempt to find a breakthrough.
Ahmed and Khan held multiple rounds of negotiations, which went well until they abruptly broke down after some PTI leaders gave Khan unrealistic advice, according to a story by Geo News that was published on April 14 of this year.
The businessman has been the focus of a social media and Pakistani TV talk show frenzy ever since his interview was broadcast on Geo News. Among the many accusations leveled against him is that he has backed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
