The nation has one of South East Asia's highest rates of civilian gun ownership. Roughly 40% of these firearms are thot to be unlawful. Politicians quickly called for a revision of the present gun rules in response to Friday's massacre. In response, Prime Minister Anutin promised to enact a new law governing guns. The public's ability to carry such weapons will be restricted under the proposed new legislation.Only government employes who are on duty will be permitted to carry firearms under the new rule, according to Anutin. He gave no details about the planned law, such as whether it would make gun ownership more stringent.

US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

Electric blue waves light up Anglesey beach as bioluminescent plankton glow in the dark Rare night glow draws photographers to Penmon Point A stunning natural light show lit up the sea at Penmon Point on Anglesey, where waves turned bright electric blue due to bioluminescent plankton. The rare glow attracted photographers and locals who gathered along the beach to witness the display. The phenomenon happens when tiny marine organisms in the water produce light after being disturbed by movement in the sea. On this night, the effect created bright flashes that looked like glowing sparks across the waves. Photographer travels hundreds of miles for the moment A photographer, Paul Joels, 44, traveled from Nottinghamshire to Wales after hearing reports of the glowing sea. He spent more than seven hours on the journey to capture the scene. He said night photography is something he enjoys deeply, and bioluminescence has always been a challenge to catch. Some trips work out, while others do not, but he said that uncertainty is part of the experience. He also acknowledged that some people might think the long trip is unusual, but said the result made it worthwhile. Lucky timing brings strong display Charlotte Kite, 45, from Denbigh, also joined the group on the beach after earlier sightings of the glow in the area. She had tried several times before to photograph bioluminescence without success. This time, she arrived around 11 pm with a small group of photographers and finally saw a strong display in the water. She described the scene as flashes of electric blue light that looked like lightning hitting the sea. She added that the brightness seen in photos was very close to what the eye could see in real time. What causes the glowing sea Bioluminescence is created by microscopic plankton that emit light when disturbed. Movement from waves or predators triggers the glow, producing bright blue streaks across the water. On this night, conditions aligned perfectly, creating a vivid natural light show that lasted long enough for visitors to capture photographs.

# NHS Trust Chief Executive Shocked by Nottingham Maternity Review Findings ## Trust Accepts Findings of Landmark Maternity Review The chief executive of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Anthony May, has expressed shock and sadness following the publication of a major maternity review. The report uncovered serious failings in maternity care and described them as deeply rooted systemic problems. The independent review examined maternity services at the trust and found that hundreds of babies and mothers suffered avoidable harm over several years. It is considered the largest maternity review ever carried out within the NHS. Anthony May said the findings were upsetting, even though investigators had regularly shared updates throughout the review process. He also praised the families who came forward and shared their experiences to help improve maternity care for future patients. ## Hundreds of Cases Showed Avoidable Harm The review involved around 2,500 families and more than 800 current and former staff members. Investigators studied hundreds of maternity cases and identified significant concerns. According to the findings, 520 cases had outcomes that may have been avoided with better care. The report also stated that improved treatment could have changed the outcome for 260 babies. This group included babies who died and others who suffered serious brain injuries linked to poor standards of care. The review concluded that failures in leadership, communication, and clinical practices contributed to many of these outcomes. ## Toxic Workplace Culture Raised Serious Concerns Investigators also highlighted a toxic workplace culture within the maternity unit. Staff reported experiences of bullying and fear, which discouraged some employees from speaking up about safety concerns. The report suggested that a small number of influential leaders contributed to the negative culture. As a result, important concerns were not always addressed quickly or effectively. Review leader Donna Ockenden stressed the importance of creating an open and supportive environment where staff feel confident raising concerns about patient safety. ## Trust Commits to Immediate Improvements Following the publication of the report, the trust board formally accepted all findings and recommendations. Leaders have committed to implementing every essential action outlined in the review. Anthony May described the report as a turning point for the organization. He said the trust remains focused on learning from past mistakes and delivering safer maternity care. He also confirmed his intention to remain in his role for the next two years to oversee the improvement programme. The trust plans to strengthen patient safety measures, improve staff accountability, and rebuild public confidence in its maternity services. ## Families' Voices Driving Change Families affected by the maternity failings played a central role in the review. Many shared difficult personal experiences in the hope that future parents and babies would receive better care. Their contributions helped investigators identify key areas for improvement and highlighted the urgent need for lasting change across maternity services. The trust now faces the challenge of turning recommendations into action and ensuring similar failures do not happen again.
