According to Aleema Khan, the sister of the imprisoned founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, the civil disobedience action was postponed for a “few days on party leaders’ request” after the party’s “do-or-die” protest in Islamabad.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday, she stated, “He [Imran] is worried about the country […] he will wait for a few more days,”
In a post on X, Imran threatened to start a “civil disobedience” movement if the government did not comply with his demands, which include the release of the PTI’s “political prisoners” and a judicial investigation into the May 9, 2023, riots and the November 26 crackdown on PTI protestors.
A five-member negotiation team was also established by the ousted prime minister, and it included Salman Akram, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Omar Ayub Khan.
