NEW DELHI: In order to help Afghanistan’s displaced women’s cricket players resume their sport, the International Cricket Council has promised additional assistance.
The Taliban effectively banned women from participating in sports after regaining control in 2021, forcing the majority into exile.
Many escaped to Australia, where they played a match earlier this year in Melbourne without their official crest.
The governing body’s Afghanistan women’s cricket program has made headway, according to information presented at the ICC’s annual conference in Singapore over the weekend.
In a statement released late Sunday, the ICC stated, “The program aims to deliver structured support.”
