Authorities at Mangla Dam have implemented emergency procedures in response to a possible threat from India to release 400,000 cusecs of water.
The area deputy commissioner claims that the areas around the Mangla Dam might suffer greatly if India releases the water.
“Every precaution has been taken to prevent any untoward situation given the Indian threat,” he added, adding that the public has been encouraged to disregard unverified claims and adhere to official directives.
Given the continuous, intense rains, there is also a chance that the water level at Tarbela Dam would dangerously rise.
