KARACHI: According to data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday, consumer price index (CPI) inflation decreased sharply to 2.4% year-over-year in January 2025 from 4.1% in December and an alarming 28.3% in January 2024.
As a result of lessening pricing pressures in both urban and rural areas, this represents the lowest inflation rate in more than two years. It surpassed 29% in FY23; in May 2023, inflation hit a record high of 37.97%. Since that time, though, it has been declining.
Compared to January 2024, when it increased 1.8%, and January 2024, when it increased 0.1%, CPI inflation increased by 0.2% on a month-over-month basis.
