In the first game of the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) series being played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad, Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first against West Indies on Friday.
The decision was made to take advantage of the pitch’s dampness and the cloudy weather, according to Pakistan captain Muhammad Rizwan.
“We want to make the most of the pitch and weather conditions. The team’s message is to play modern cricket and adjust to the situation,” he added, adding that the team was depending more on all-rounders because the bowling combination was difficult to predict due to weather uncertainty.
Hasan Nawaz is playing his first ODI for Pakistan, Rizwan added.
