ISLAMABAD: In a significant step toward selling a majority stake in the national flag carrier, the federal government has formally requested expressions of interest (EOIs) from possible investors for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The Privatization Commission claims that the decision has been made to sell the potential buyer between 51 and 100 percent of PIA shares, together with managerial control. Interested parties must submit their EOIs by June 3, 2025.
The government has offered several incentives for investors as part of the process. Among these is an exemption from the 18% general sales tax (GST) on new aircraft purchases or leases.
