Short ceasefires are increasingly popular in the Kremlin.
First, in what he described as a “humanitarian” gesture, Vladimir Putin announced a 30-hour halt in fighting during Easter.
A three-day unilateral truce for early May has now been announced by the Kremlin leader. In keeping with festivities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War Two, it will take place from May 8 to May 10.
The Kremlin declared in a statement that all military operations would stop for 72 hours. Citing once more “humanitarian” grounds, it made it apparent that Moscow expects Ukraine to do the same.
