According to AFP, President Donald Trump publicly commended Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, for allegedly blocking a plan to display US tax prices on product listings.
The matter came to light after Punchbowl News revealed that Amazon’s Haul shop had debated internally showing the extent to which Trump-imposed tariffs affected the cost of imported products.
The White House immediately reacted negatively to the revelation, calling the action “a political act.”
Trump, who allegedly had a direct conversation with Bezos, told reporters that the founder of Amazon was “terrific” and “did the right thing” by halting the plan.
