International Cricket Council (ICC) President Jay Shah has deleted a controversial social media post after expressing support for the Indian Army.
Shah was previously under fire for expressing support for the Indian Army on social media, which sparked questions about the impartiality of the world cricket governing body. Critics questioned whether the Indian Cricket Council or the International Cricket Council is represented by the ICC when Shah uploaded a contentious social media post that praised the Indian Armed Forces.
“Our Armed Forces are our pride, and no words are enough to express their valour and commitment in protecting our motherland and people,” Shah said.
As might be expected for someone in a prominent international athletic role, the tweet has spurred discussion on whether such outward expressions of patriotism are suitable.
