The United States was extremely near to reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said Thursday that Tehran had “sort of” accepted the terms.
Trump stated during a Gulf tour, “We’re in very serious negotiations with Iran for long-term peace,” according to an AFP shared pool report.
“We’re getting close to maybe doing a deal without having to do this… There are two steps to doing this. There is a very, very nice step, and there is the violent step, but I don’t want to do it the second way,” he stated.
There are still gaps in the negotiations with the United States, according to an Iranian source with knowledge of the discussions.
