In the most recent in a series of incidents that have damaged the reputation of Italy’s luxury brands, an Italian court has placed a unit of the fashion brand Valentino under judicial administration for a year after discovering labor mistreatment within its supply chain.
Since 2023, the same Milan court has pursued Valentino Bags Lab Srl as the fourth fashion business for comparable labor violations. A new tab is opened by the Italian division of the French luxury conglomerate LVMH (LVMH.PA). Additionally placed under administration were the Italian handbag brand Alviero Martini, Dior, and Armani.
The court discovered that Valentino Bags Lab, which produces travel accessories and handbags under the Valentino brand, outsourced production to Chinese companies.
