DUSHANBE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the weaponization of water on Friday and said Pakistan would not permit India to go too far by putting millions of lives in jeopardy for petty political ends by stalling the Indus Water Treaty (IWT).
It is extremely regretful that India has unilaterally and illegally decided to put the Indus Water Treaty, which regulates the sharing of water in the Indus Basin, on pause. Pakistan will not permit millions of lives to be sacrificed for petty political ends. At the three-day High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, which is taking place here in Tajikistan from May 29 to May 31, the prime minister declared, “We will never allow the red line to be crossed.”
