ISLAMABAD In the first phase, all connections related to CNICs issued in 2017 or before will be deleted, and the government has decided to immediately block all SIM cards registered against expired identity cards.
In subsequent phases, cancelled CNICs issued after 2017 will also be subject to the SIM blocking policy.
The decision was made at the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) headquarters in Islamabad during a high-level meeting presided over by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Senior Nadra officials and Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry attended the meeting, which also determined that only SIMs registered with genuine identity cards will continue to be valid.
