VIENNA: According to diplomatic sources who spoke to AFP on Thursday, Western allies intend to submit a resolution to the global nuclear watchdog denouncing Iran for “non-compliance” with its nuclear program.
It is the most recent development in years of attempts to limit Iran’s nuclear activity due to concerns that it is attempting to create nuclear weapons, a claim Tehran disputes.
Next week, the United States and European nations will present the resolution to the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), threatening to take the matter to the UN, according to the sources.
According to a senior diplomatic source, the United States, Britain, France, and Germany “are tabling a resolution that will find Iran in non-compliance” following a recent IAEA assessment that revealed “a general lack of cooperation” by Tehran.
