At a high-level conference led by Punjab’s Health and Education Ministers Khawaja Imran Nazir and Rana Sikandar Hayat, it was decided to start a nationwide cervical cancer prevention campaign for the first time in Pakistan’s history.
The effort, which will formally begin in November, intends to vaccinate schoolgirls throughout Punjab against cervical cancer. Eight million females between the ages of nine and fourteen are to be vaccinated.
In addition to public schools, private schools and madrasas will also be included in the immunization campaign. Health department teams will visit schools to administer the vaccines.
