On Thursday, California will go to court with Washington over President Donald Trump’s use of US troops in Los Angeles, following protests over Trump’s immigration crackdown in major cities.
According to the military, by Thursday or Friday, about 700 US Marines will be on the streets of Los Angeles to assist up to 4,000 National Guard members in defending federal agents and federal property, including during immigration raids.
Trump’s move to send troops to Los Angeles despite California Governor Gavin Newsom’s protests has further polarized the nation and ignited a national discussion about the use of force on American soil.
