At least ten people were killed in the southern US state of Texas on Friday as a result of flooding brought on by severe rainfall, and several more were reported missing.
According to local broadcaster KENS5, heavy rains on Thursday morning in San Antonio, Texas, caused flash flooding on the highways, forcing cars off the streets and into a nearby creek bed.
The San Antonio Fire Department was looking for at least four more victims, according to the station.
By Friday afternoon, ten people had been killed, according to city officials.
“Our hearts are with the families of those we’ve lost to this week’s flash floods and the families who continue searching for their loved ones,” San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg wrote on X.
