As missile strikes continue into the sixth day of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has sent a strong warning to Israel and promised a harsh retaliation.
Since US President Donald Trump called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” Khamenei has made this stance for the first time in public.
According to The Times of Israel, Khamenei declared, “The battle begins,” in a social media post on X, alluding to Ali, the first Shia imam, and his historic conquest of the Jewish town of Khaybar in the 7th century.
The post, which was initially in Farsi, featured a picture of a man brandishing a sword as he approached a gate resembling a castle, with flames streaking across the sky.
